• RB25DET Parts Collection!

I have been planning my RB25DET swap for sometime now. Over the last few months I have been collecting basically everything I need for the swap.

Below is a list of parts that I have amassed :) I almost have everything I need, I’m just waiting on a wastegate and I still need to get a RB25 fatboy gearbox. I don’t think the RB20 one I have now will be strong enough…

  • Shiny BC Coilovers

While my 200sx is standing with a blown motor I decided to do what I can before it goes in for the RB swap. So, my friend Wes and I set about installing my new BC Coilovers.

Overall, it was a much easier job than be expected. I just wish I could test them out now :)

Here are some pics of the install:

So I’m sorry I haven’t updated in ages! I’m busy planning a RB25DET swap at the moment. I’ve got the motor and gearbox already bit now comes the hard part, collecting all the parts that I need!

First off I will be doing brakes and suspension to handle the power on the bigger motor. First off is big brakes :)

    Stay tuned more updates soon.

  • Gauge install

This weekend my friend Wes and I Installed some new gauges into my sx. It turn out really well. I’m really pleased with it :)

Thanks Wes for all the help!

Here are some pics of the finished product:

  • Running again! :)

I’ve finally got my 200sx back again. I didn’t end up installing the RB25 turbo like I said I would in my last post. I realized that it would cost too much to mod everything to fit a new turbo.  So, I got my TD04L 13G turbo rebuilt.

I was quite damaged according to the turbo guys. Had to have the bearing, seals, compressor wheel and shaft replaced :|

It up and running again now though so its awesome. I took it out for a Drive up the coast here are some pics:

I also came across a SL55 AMG on the way back. It was a fun short run :) I know he tapped off at the end, but it was fun to run with him anyways:

  • Blown turbo…

So, I haven’t updated in a while… The reason being that my sx isn’t running again. The turbo decided to give up on me :( (fulling my intercooler with oil on its way out!).

Anyways, I’m making plans for a new turbo. I buddy of mine is doing a RB25DET swap and I’m gonna buy the RB25DET turbo off his motor as he’s got a turbo to use already. Failing that, I am gonna buy myself a RB25DET motor and use that turbo while I prepare for the my own RB25DET swap :) Either way I’m gonna be buying a RB25DET motor as I want to have the swap done by some time early next year.

Here are some cool pics I took while my sx was running. These were taken at the new Porsche centre in Umhlanga by Gateway:

I like the reflection is this one :P

  • More bad luck :(

Well, my sx was fine last weekend but as soon as Monday morning struck it haven’t been going so well…

My sx developed a misfire when I try get on boost. We are pretty sure it is because of no spark. I can’t figure out whats causing it. I’ve replaced plugs, swapped out all the coils, looked at all the wiring, change the chargetime on the ECU, burnt myself a lot in the process but I still can’t find out what is causing it :(

So, back to Gary it will go tommorow. He should be able to sort it out for me. Hopefully it will be nothing serious.

  • BMW Autocross

Today I went to go watch the an autocross event at Suncoast organized by the BWM Club. As usual this event was awesome. Some great cars turned up including a RB25 powered beemer, a R32 skyline, Mad Mark in his M3 CSL and a host of other fast cars.

The day went really well and it was an awesome event watch:

The setting for this event is awesome. You can see the new soccer statium in the background getting ready for the 2010 world cup.

This little polo’s driver was insane. He yanked the handbrake from miles out and slid it in to get around the cone.

Crazy skyline about to launch :P

  • Less words, more pics!

Today I did a few thing to my 200sx, this time I’l let the pics do the talking though :P

First I got and installed an oil catch can because oil kep blowing out the breather pipes:

While I was taking my one friend for a drive, after installing the oil catch can, we pulled some high g’s around a few corners ( :) ) and the battery negative cable got pulled out :( This, left us stranded in the middle of an intersection, lol. After reconnecting the cable my next job was to strapping down of the battery :) . Luckily this morning I had bought some luggage straps. I gave the boot a good clean up while I was at it.

    Nice and secure!

After that I gave the whole car and the engine bay a good clean. I also included some pics of the water/meth injection system :)

  • Running strong!

I’ve had my 200sx since Monday and I must say its great to have it back. Its boosting a solid 1bar now with the water/meth and 750cc injectors and pulling really well!

With the extra boost some oil got blown out of the breather pipes leaving and nice long trail of smoke behind me and a dirty engine bay :| So, no engine bay pics for now. I’m going to try sort out an oil catch can this weekend.

Anyways, while heading to my car to make my way home I snapped this shot: :)
