• 200sx Update

    Ok, so a quick update. Things are finally going better with my 200sx. The 750cc injectors are in and holding pressure fine and the engine management systems seems to be working fine now. It has had a very quick tune and is running ok. So, should get to drive my sx this weekend!! Finally :) We will probably get the tuning done this weekend. I’l update again once it done :)

  • Status of my 200sx

    I though that I should give you an update on whats current happening with my sx. Its currently sitting at my tuners house with no engine management system that can run it. :(

    It originally went in with a blown head gasket. It was soon discovered that the head was warped :( … So while the head went off for straightening and gas flow I decided to do a few mods while I could. Gary built me a custom water/meth kit and I also asked for the ABS to be removed (save some weight and get rid of the old system to aid in track day braking :) ).

    Everything was going to plan. I had a track day to attend soon and the head came back in time, the meth kit was done, the ABS was out, it was just down to some tuning for the new meth kit. Then, things started to go downhill… When tuning for meth, the Dicktator engine management system suddenly stopped working! The injectors were just being held open. The injector driver was blown. :( This was only the start of my bad luck…

    I send the Dicktator back to the manufacturers to get fixed and decided to get some new injectors while I wait. I ordered some nice 780cc injectors from Eric Performance Parts.

    I finally got the Dicktator back after lots of drama with the post office and the injectors also arrived shortly after. I though all was well, but as it turned out the injectors where wrong! So I had to send them back and get replacements sent. Then we tried to get my sx started on the old injectors so I could at least drive it for a meet. But no, it seemed the Dicktator wasn’t fixed either!! So both after fighting with the post office to get both the injectors and the Dicktator, they were both wrong!! :(

    So now I’m sitting with a management system that seems to still be broken but the company says its fixed and working and they tested it before they sent it… and the right injectors are still on their way. They should be here this week.

    So now I have to decide what to do. Try get the engine management to work, or buy a new one and send the old one back to get fixed and sell it to cover some costs… Hopefully I can have my sx running by this weekend if I end up buying a new management system. I’ve been with out my sx for 2 and a half months already!! :(

    I attended the Roy Hesketh track day a few month back and it seems they only did a write up on the event now. A friend of mine’s 200sx also made it into the magazine spread as well as our results from the day:

    It was nice to see this Bunker Racing track day get some national coverage :) hopefully the event will be covered more often in the future.

    Hi, my name is Ryan and I’m addicted to cars!

    I have a 1991 Nissan 200sx (S13) and I love fast cars, track racing and drifting. I attend most of the motorsport events that happen in my home town of Durban, South Africa.

    Here, I hope to bring you some of the interesting things I get up to with my 200sx, and the 200sx owners club member in the Durban area. I’l also try my best to bring you some coverage of the event that happen in and around Durban.
